Ajmer Food Safety Raids Unlicensed Sohan Papdi Factory, Seizes 2000 Kg

The raid followed directives from the Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Control, Rajasthan, Jaipur, and Ajmer's Chief Medical and Health Officer, Dr. Jyotsna Ranga. What officers found on site was alarming: Sohan Papdi being made in extremely unhygienic and dirty conditions, with flies buzzing everywhere.

Substandard Ingredients and Licensing Irregularities Unearthed

During the inspection, officials observed the use of excessive food colors in the Sohan Papdi. Even more concerning, groundnuts dyed green were being used and passed off as pistachio cuttings. These deceptive ingredients were promptly destroyed on the spot.

Shahbaz, son of Yasin, identified as the food business operator, informed authorities that the Sohan Papdi was being prepared using a mix of refined palmolein oil and vanaspati. He presented a wholesale category license, but regulations clearly state that a manufacturing unit requires a specific food permit.

2000 Kg of Sohan Papdi Seized, Further Action Pending

Food safety officers collected two samples of the Sohan Papdi under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 and Rules & Regulations 2011. The remaining approximately 2000 kilograms of Sohan Papdi were immediately sealed at the site. Further action will be initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 once the lab test reports for the samples are received.

Shahbaz has been instructed to halt all manufacturing operations until further orders. The raiding team included Food Safety Officers Anand Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Kasari Nandan Sharma, and Rajendra Sharma, with Rajkumar Indoria assisting in the operation.
