Congress Plans Massive Protest in Kota on July 28 Over Farmer Woes

This decision emerged from a recent meeting of city and rural Congress workers, led by former MLA Prahlad Gunjal. The gathering saw a significant presence of party leaders and workers, including Kota in-charge Pushpendra Bhardwaj.

Leaders Address Farmer Concerns

Addressing the party cadres, PCC General Secretary and Kota in-charge Pushpendra Bhardwaj expressed his privilege in being the in-charge for a region with strong leaders like Prahlad Gunjal. Bhardwaj highlighted Gunjal's consistent efforts to champion the cause of farmers, youth, and the poor, ensuring their voices are heard and justice is sought on various issues.

"Hadoti boasts the strongest Congress presence across Rajasthan," Bhardwaj stated, reassuring workers that "in the times to come, those who deserve respect will undoubtedly receive it."

Former MLA Prahlad Gunjal painted a grim picture of the farmers' plight. He remarked that while farmers hope for the government's support when nature is uncooperative, it seems both are currently turning a blind eye. "The dreams of Hadoti's farmers are shattering," Gunjal lamented, describing how farmers anxiously watch the sky, their eyes shedding tears for their uncertain future.

Gunjal pointed out that millions of hectares have been sown with paddy, yet farmers are constantly pleading for water. With no electricity for irrigation and no canal water, the farmers' cries for fertilizer, water, and electricity go unheard. He questioned whether Congress workers should not fulfill their duty to protest when the public suffers under government apathy.

Gunjal called upon Congress workers to unite with full force to make the July 28 protest a historic event, honoring the 'Annadata' (food provider) and addressing the critical issues of fertilizer and seed shortages, and the urgent need for canal water.

Inadequate Water Release and Alleged Fertilizer Scam

Regarding the canal water situation, Prahlad Gunjal described the currently released water for paddy irrigation as "a drop in the ocean." He reiterated that Hadoti, particularly Kota-Baran, is the 'rice bowl' and needs adequate water. Gunjal demanded that the government immediately provide sufficient water for irrigation.

Gunjal also exposed what he termed an "open loot" of farmers concerning fertilizer. He claimed that a 1300 rupee bag of fertilizer is unavailable unless farmers purchase an "attachment," effectively costing them 2400 rupees. He highlighted the apparent paradox where those unable to buy a single bag without attachment can purchase as many as they want with it.

"Why is this monopoly running in the fertilizer business?" Gunjal questioned, promising to reveal the individuals and connections behind this alleged scam at the upcoming protest.

The meeting also heard addresses from former MLA Poonam Goyal, State President of Sports Cell Amin Pathan, former District President Ravindra Tyagi, Hariprasad Meena, Anoop Thakur, Kushal Pal Singh, Gayatri Meena, Asrar Ahmed, Ashok Meena, Devendra Goyanda, Mrs. Pooja Singh, Dildar Ali, Hamid Gaur, Manoj Dubey, Hemant Tiwari, Mahendra Gurjar, Shalini Gautam, Tikam Suman, and Deepak Namdev. Hemant Chaturvedi conducted the proceedings. District Vice Presidents Balwinder Singh Billu, Manju Chaudhary, Vipin Barthunia, Himanshu Sharma, Manish Sharma, Prashant Saxena, Hirdesh Saxena, and other office bearers and workers from the city and rural district Congress Committee were present.
