Nasirabad Hospital in Crisis: Critical Doctor Shortage Leaves Thousands Underserved

The hospital currently serves approximately 1500 patients daily, many of whom express frustration over extended waiting times, often stretching for several hours. This prolonged wait frequently compels distressed patients to abandon their visit and seek treatment at private facilities, incurring significant financial strain.

Empty Posts, Critical Gaps

Further investigation reveals a startling reality: key positions remain vacant despite the hospital's strategic location near a national highway, which sees frequent accident cases. The absence of both senior and junior surgeons means accident victims must routinely be referred to Ajmer, a critical delay in emergency care.

The specialist deficit doesn't stop there. The sub-district level hospital is also without orthopedic specialists, gynecologists, radiologists, pathologists, and several medical officers. These glaring gaps severely limit the scope of services available to the local community.

Unused Equipment and Deputed Staff

Adding to the concern, a dermatologist, despite the general shortage, has been deputed to Jaipur. This leaves local skin patients with no option but to turn to private clinics, further burdening their finances.

Perhaps most strikingly, the hospital possesses all necessary equipment for sonography services. Yet, for years, the machine has remained covered, completely unused due to the lack of a sonography specialist. Patients are left with no choice but to pay out of pocket for these essential diagnostic services at private centers.

Efforts Met with Inaction

Local MLA Ramswaroop Lamba and Hospital In-charge Dr. Vinayak Gaud have consistently advocated for filling these vacant specialist positions. However, their efforts appear to be falling on deaf ears, with health department officials and ministers seemingly adopting a 'mute spectator' stance.
