AVVNL Technician Arrested for ₹10,000 Bribe Over Poly House Power Connection in Ajmer

According to ACB Director General of Police Govind Gupta, the arrested individual has been identified as Bablesh Kumar Sharma, a Technician-I working with AVVNL in Kishangarh. The action followed a complaint filed by a citizen detailing the demand for a bribe.

The Bribe Demand and Digital Transaction

The complainant reported that an application for an electricity connection had been submitted for a poly house located on agricultural land in Dhusuk village, owned by his father and uncle. Initial demands for a bribe surfaced from Giriraj Meena at the AVVNL office, who allegedly asked for ₹15,000 to issue the connection. The complainant was then directed to contact Technician Bablesh Kumar Sharma.

Sharma reportedly used WhatsApp calls to pressure the applicant into sending the bribe money via PhonePe. He assured immediate approval of the file once the payment was made. This digital trail became a crucial piece of evidence in the ACB's investigation.

ACB's Swift Action and Ongoing Probe

Under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General Narayan Togas, Police Inspector Kanchan Bhati conducted a discreet verification of the complaint. This confirmed the demand for a ₹10,000 bribe. Following this, the ACB Intelligence team in Ajmer set up a trap.

The operation successfully led to Sharma's arrest as he received the ₹10,000 bribe amount through PhonePe. The technician is now in custody.

Currently, the interrogation of the accused and other related individuals is underway. This investigation is being directed by Additional Director General Smita Srivastava and Inspector General S. Parimala. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is progressing.
