CCTV Cracks Ajmer Chain Snatching Case: Two Women Arrested from MP Jail

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sapna, wife of Deva Bhaat, and Varsha alias Kamlesh Bhaat. This operation follows an earlier arrest in the same case, where another woman named Arkita was taken into custody.

The Incident That Sparked the Hunt

GRP Station House Officer Indu shared details, explaining that the case stems from a report filed on May 14, 2026, by a victim named Shyam Lal. He informed the GRP station that his sister, Radha, was boarding a train from Ajmer bound for Chennai when her gold chain was snatched from her neck amid a heavy crowd on the platform. Despite immediate efforts, the perpetrator vanished without a trace.

CCTV Footage Proves Crucial

Following the complaint, Ajmer GRP police launched an extensive investigation. They meticulously scanned CCTV footage from across the station premises, which proved instrumental in identifying the suspicious women involved. The probe revealed that three female accused were part of the snatching operation.

With one accused already in custody, the GRP moved swiftly to bring the remaining two to justice. They were transported to Ajmer from Guna, Madhya Pradesh, on a production warrant.

Custody Remand and Ongoing Investigation

On Monday, the GRP police presented both accused before the court, which subsequently granted their police custody remand. Investigators are now interrogating Sapna and Varsha to uncover details about other potential chain snatching incidents and to map out the full extent of their gang's network.
