Ajmer Police Crack Nephew's Theft in 24 Hours, Arson Angle Probed

The arrested individual has been identified as Shariq, a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He is reportedly the nephew of the victim, Sohel, who owns the house.

Details of the Incident

Assistant Sub-Inspector Mangaram stated that Sohel, son of Abdul Khurshid, filed a report on August 11. He recounted that on the night of August 9, around 11:30 PM, he took medicine and went to sleep in his room.

Upon waking around 5 AM the next morning, he found his wardrobe open and items scattered. His wife's gold jewelry and cash, which were kept in the almirah, were missing.

Arrest and Recovery

During their investigation, police questioned several suspects before apprehending Shariq. Authorities confirm that the stolen jewelry has been recovered from his possession.

Arson Investigation Underway

Adding another layer to the case, an incident of fire at the house after the theft has also emerged. The victim suspects that some family members might have conspired to set the house ablaze to destroy evidence.

Police are actively investigating the alleged arson and the potential involvement of other individuals in the incident. The accused is scheduled to be presented in court today and subsequently sent to judicial custody.
