A Wedding for Rain: Frogs Marry in Traditional Indian Ritual

Amidst the growing concern over dry spells, locals gathered to conduct the 'Mendhak-Mendhaki Vivah' (Frog Wedding), believing it to be a powerful ritual to invoke heavy rainfall. The entire town buzzed with excitement as preparations unfolded.

No detail was spared for this special occasion. The chosen frog groom was adorned with a tiny turban, while the frog bride was elegantly dressed in a miniature lehenga. The wedding procession, known as a 'baraat', was a lively affair.

Accompanied by the rhythmic beats of traditional drums and joyful cheers, the frog couple was paraded through the market. All the customary pre-wedding rituals were meticulously observed, including the vibrant Haldi (turmeric) and intricate Mehndi (henna) ceremonies, culminating in a ceremonial 'Vidai' (farewell) for the bride.
