Jaipur Cow Shelter Scam: Government Gets Tough After ₹57 Crore Fraud Revelation

The scam, which reportedly impacted 38 cow shelters, involved a shocking allegation: the manipulation of records to show 1.31 lakh deceased cattle as still alive. This elaborate scheme was allegedly designed to illicitly claim fodder grants, siphoning off substantial public funds meant for animal welfare.

Government Mandates Digital Overhaul

Responding swiftly to the revelations, Gopalan Minister Joraram Kumawat has issued a series of directives aimed at preventing any future malpractices. His instructions underscore a firm commitment to transparency and accountability within the state's cow shelter system.

A primary directive mandates 100% digital tagging for all cattle across these shelters. This ambitious initiative is set to be completed by September 30. Each bovine will be equipped with a special chip and a distinct colored tag, creating an undeniable digital identity.

To support this, a brand-new software system is currently under development. This platform will bring all cow shelter records online, establishing a centralized and transparent database. The move aims to make it virtually impossible for fraudulent claims or data manipulation to occur.

Beyond the digital transformation, Minister Kumawat also emphasized the need to accelerate the grant distribution process for legitimate cow shelters. Additionally, instructions have been given to simplify the rules for land allotment, aiming to create a more efficient and supportive environment for genuine welfare organizations.
