TV actor Rohit Chandel arrested under POCSO Act:Charges of molestation, stalking, and assault against a 16-year-old minor

TV actor Rohit Chandel was arrested on charges of molesting a minor and stalking her. Additionally, he was also accused of assault. According to a Times of India report, a complaint was filed against Rohit on July 10 under the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences). He was arrested from his home in Dahisar on July 10 and produced before a Special POCSO Court. The actor is currently in custody. On Friday, upon receiving a complaint from the minor residing in Mumbai's eastern suburbs, Pant Nagar Police Station also invoked sections 78 (stalking) and 115(2) (intent to cause injury) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the actor. The actor is accused of repeatedly harassing a minor girl by calling her from his number. When the minor stopped answering his calls, the actor started harassing her by repeatedly calling from another number. According to the complaint, on 5 July, Rohit tried to forcibly stop the girl near her house and later also stalked her. When the minor protested, the actor argued with her, abused her, and assaulted her. Who is Rohit Chandel? Rohit Chandel played the role of Dhawal Makwana in Star Plus's famous show 'Pandya Store' and Bajirao in Zee TV's historical show 'Kashibai Bajirao Ballal'. Rohit, a resident of Shahada in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, played professional cricket before entering acting. He played cricket for the Maharashtra Cricket Association and also represented his district in martial arts. In 2015, Rohit arrived in Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. He faced a lot of struggle in the initial phase. After being rejected in about 90 auditions, he got his first commercial advertisement. After this, he made his TV debut with the show 'Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal'. Later, he appeared in many serials like 'Chandragupta Maurya', 'Tamanna', and 'Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai'. In 2022, he played the role of Rajkumar in Disney+ Hotstar's web series 'Escape Live'. 'Kashibai Bajirao Ballal' and 'Pandya Store' made him a household name.
