Actress Swara Bhasker recently joined the protest at Jantar Mantar in support of Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike and the Campaign for Justice and Peace (CJP). During the protest, she strongly criticised the Central government, accusing it of creating an atmosphere of fear. Speaking to The Lallantop, Swara claimed that many celebrities have chosen to remain silent because they fear facing the same consequences she did for speaking out. "They are not coming because they have seen what happened to me. They know that if they speak up, the same thing could happen to them. The situation in 2010-11 was different. The government may have had its flaws and may have been involved in corruption, but it has gone much further. People, activists and students have been kept in jail for years without bail, without trials, and without any valid reason," she said.
