The event was attended by several Bollywood stars, including Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Rekha, Kajol, Juhi Chawla, Kiran Rao, and Aamir’s daughter Ira Khan along with her husband. Salman Khan grabbed attention with his new ultra-short hairstyle, which many social media users compared to his look from the film Tere Naam. His fresh appearance quickly became a talking point online. During the event, Aamir and Salman posed together for photographers. Troubled by drought and heavy taxes, a young man named Bhuvan accepts the cricket challenge from British officer Captain Russell on behalf of the villagers. The condition is that if they win, three years of tax (lagaan) will be waived, while if they lose, they will have to pay three times the tax. Apart from Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh, Paul Blackthorne, and Rachel Shelley played important roles in the film. A.R. Rahman's music and Javed Akhtar's lyrics also became very popular. 'Lagaan' received a nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars. Made on a budget of approximately ₹25 crore, the film earned more than ₹65 crore worldwide.
