Mithun Chakraborty undergoes surgery:Metal plate removed from hand, Bengal CM Suvendu visits actor in the hospital

Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty underwent an operation on 7 August. Following this, West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari visited Mithun Chakraborty at a private hospital in Kolkata on Friday morning. According to sources from news agency PTI, Mithun Chakraborty underwent surgery on Thursday to remove a metal plate previously implanted in his body. This plate had been implanted after an old accident. Doctors stated that the surgery was successful and his condition is currently stable. The Chief Minister wrote on social media, 'Renowned film actor and member of BJP's central committee, Mithun Chakraborty, has been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata due to health issues. Today I went to the hospital to meet him. I conversed with him and inquired about his health. I pray to God for his speedy recovery.' He was also admitted to the hospital in 2024 Earlier, in February 2024, Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata after complaining of a brain stroke and chest pain. After treatment, his condition improved and he was discharged from the hospital. At that time too, Suvendu Adhikari had visited Mithun Chakraborty at the hospital to inquire about his health. Mithun Chakraborty is among the prominent BJP leaders in West Bengal. He had extensively campaigned for the party in the 2026 assembly elections, in which the BJP defeated the Trinamool Congress to form the government in the state. A look at Mithun Chakraborty's film career Mithun Chakraborty started his film career in 1976 with director Mrinal Sen's film 'Mrigaya'. He received the National Film Award for Best Actor for his very first film. After that, he did many memorable films in Hindi and Bengali cinema. 'Disco Dancer' proved to be the biggest hit of his career. In his decade-long career, Mithun worked in many films like Suraksha, Pyar Jhukta Nahin, Ghulami, Dance Dance, Pyar Ka Mandir, Guru, Golmaal 3, Housefull 2, OMG, Kick, The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. Mithun Chakraborty has so far been honored with three National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards and the Padma Bhushan in the year 2024.
