India's entry for Oscar 2027 to be announced today:Homebound was sent last year, the film reached the top 15

The Film Federation of India (FFI) has started the process of selecting India’s official entry for the 99th Academy Awards (Oscars 2027). The FFI began accepting film applications on August 4, 2026. Producers can submit their entries until 6 PM on September 7, 2026. The 99th Academy Awards will be held on March 14, 2027, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA. Last year, the film Homebound was sent as India's entry for the Oscars. The film starred Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa in lead roles. In 2025, a total of 24 films in different languages were considered for India's Oscar entry. Among these, Homebound was selected. At that time, N. Chandra, the chairperson of the selection committee, had said that the decision was very difficult. N. Chandra had said, "These were films that touched people's lives." Comparing the selection committee to coaches, he had said that they were not judges, but were looking for players who had made their mark.
