'I wrote OMG-2, wasn't even given credit':Paresh Rawal claims 'It wasn't a sequel, Salman and Ajay were to be cast, Akshay's interest changed everything'

Amidst the controversy with Akshay Kumar over Hera Pheri 3, Paresh Rawal has claimed that he himself wrote the script for the film Oh My God 2, but later it was changed and he was not given credit either. When Vicky Lalwani asked Paresh Rawal in an interview why he didn't do the film Oh My God 2, he said- 'I did Road to Sangam with Amit Rai (director). I am his fan. So I asked him if he had thought of doing something else. I told him that I have an idea, let's do it together.' 'The idea was that a boy has been caught masturbating, his video has gone viral, and he is being ridiculed. His father is a tourist guide in Khajuraho. But Amit thought of showing the father as a priest of Mahakal as well. I discussed this with a sexologist friend for 5-5 hours, so that this idea wouldn't appear vulgar.' Wanted to cast Salman and Ajay Further, Paresh Rawal said, Then we added a character like a biker or a salesman, who would appear for 4-5 scenes intermittently and impart knowledge. I went to Ajay Devgn for the biker's role, and also to Salman Khan. If I had gone to Akshay, it would have seemed like 'Oh My God 2' was being made. I also went to Vipul Shah, and we had a meeting. Later, I received a call from Amit saying that there was a slight problem. I asked, What happened?, to which he replied, They are interested in this film. When asked who, he said that Akshay wants to do the film. Further, Paresh Rawal said, 'Amit had unknowingly or foolishly written OMG 2 on this script. Whereas we had to do an out-of-the-box idea like Oh My God, this was not OMG 2. Those people took the script from Amit. I told Amit that this is not a franchise. But I cannot fight with you.' Akshay wanted Paresh Rawal to do the film Paresh Rawal has stated that Akshay came to him and asked him to do the film, but he refused. On this, Paresh Rawal said - 'If this were a sequel, I would definitely do the film, take a lot of money, and also take credit for the story. Sadly, I didn't even get credit for the story. I am not a storyteller, but the idea for the story was Paresh's, such credit was also not given.' Paresh further stated that Akshay Kumar knew that he had written the story. Karan Johar also knows, Somen Mishra, Ashwin Varde also know. Salman Khan also knew. Amit Rai directed OMG 2 After Paresh Rawal withdrew from the film, the film based on his script was directed by Amit Rai. The story credit was also given to Amit Rai. Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam played the lead roles in it. This film was released in 2023 and was a hit, which is a sequel to the 2012 film OMG. The Censor Board had made several changes to the film.
