During a recent Instagram Live session, fans questioned him about reports claiming he holds an American passport, as well as about a US Green Card and President Donald Trump. Diljit responded with humour, saying he didn't want to comment because "anything I say becomes news." The live session was primarily held to address the controversy surrounding his film Satluj, which was removed from ZEE5 in India shortly after its release. While discussing the issue, Diljit also briefly reacted to the ongoing buzz over his reported US citizenship, but stopped short of confirming or denying the claims. Diljit Gives a witty response to green card suggestion During the Instagram Live, a fan suggested that Diljit Dosanjh apply for a US Green Card. Responding with his trademark humour, the singer joked that he would simply take a card and paint it green. He then added that he preferred not to say anything more on the topic because "anything I say becomes news." Diljit remarked that public speculation never seems to end. The singer also shared his broader view on travel, saying he believes people should be able to visit any country without needing a visa. "The whole world should be one," he said. Diljit reacts to question on Donald Trump's daughter During the live session, a fan jokingly asked Diljit Dosanjh to speak to US President Donald Trump and help everyone get American citizenship. Responding with a laugh, the singer said, "What do you people think of me? I'm just an artist." He added that he couldn't possibly ask anyone to resolve citizenship-related issues. Diljit also revealed that Donald Trump's daughter follows him on Instagram, but clarified that they have never interacted. "I never ask anyone for favours," he said. Citizenship speculation began after a report Questions about Diljit's citizenship first surfaced earlier this year following a report by The Indian Express. The report claimed that the singer became a US citizen in 2022 and has been travelling on an American passport since September that year. It also stated that his last Indian passport was issued in Mumbai in 2018. The report further claimed that his wife, Sandeep Kaur, is also a US citizen and that Diljit had listed a five-bedroom home in California as his address. However, the singer has never publicly confirmed or denied these claims. Diljit voices concern over Satluj's removal Diljit Dosanjh had gone live on social media primarily to address the controversy surrounding his film Satluj. The film was taken down from ZEE5 just 48 hours after its release in India. Before making it to the platform, it had remained in limbo for nearly three years over certification issues with the CBFC. Speaking to his fans, Diljit urged people to watch the film whenever they get the opportunity. He described Satluj as an important chapter in the history of both Punjab and India, saying stories like these deserve to be seen and remembered. Film removed from ZEE5 following government order According to a Times of India report, the Centre directed ZEE5 to take down Satluj from its platform, citing national security concerns and provisions under the Information Technology (IT) Rules, 2021. Government sources said the film was originally submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in 2022 under the title Punjab 95. The CBFC reportedly recommended 127 cuts, but the filmmakers did not agree to the changes, preventing the film from receiving certification for a theatrical release. A government official said the makers later renamed the film Satluj and released it directly on OTT. Since streaming platforms do not require CBFC certification, the film became available online.
