Jaipur Police Crushes Modified Silencers with Road Roller, Sends Stern Warning

This stringent action comes directly under the directives of Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal. The focus is squarely on vehicles sporting illegal modifications, including altered silencers and pressure horns, which often contribute to noise pollution and other public nuisances, violating provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Extensive Campaign Targets Illegal Alterations and Noise Pollution

DCP Traffic Yogesh Goyal elaborated on the ongoing special drive. He stated that traffic police have been instructed to target vehicles with modified or illegal silencers, pressure horns causing noise pollution, unauthorized body alterations, and aftermarket bumpers.

So far, the Jaipur Traffic Police campaign has taken action against a significant number of offenders. This includes 502 modified silencers, 402 pressure horns, and over 2,000 drivers cited for illegal body modifications. The seized items, including silencers and bumpers, were removed from vehicles and subsequently destroyed by the road roller.

Safety Concerns Drive Bumper Crackdown

Goyal highlighted a critical safety concern regarding modified bumpers, particularly on SUVs. Such bumpers can obstruct the proper deployment of airbags during an accident, drastically increasing the risk of injury or fatality for occupants. The police are urging vehicle owners to avoid these dangerous modifications for their own safety.

Statewide Drive for Road Safety Until July 16th

This initiative is part of a wider, statewide campaign by Rajasthan Police, set to run until July 16th. The goal is two-fold: to reduce road accidents and foster a safer traffic environment across the state. Alongside strict enforcement, the police are also actively promoting traffic rule awareness.

Beyond modifications, the campaign is also cracking down on other common violations. These include riding without helmets, overspeeding, illegal parking, and lane cutting. Public awareness is being amplified through impactful messages such as 'No journey without a helmet,' 'Helmet mandatory for both driver and pillion,' and 'ISI mark helmet is the means of life protection.' These efforts aim to encourage greater compliance with traffic rules and ultimately, reduce accident rates.
