NEET UG 2026 Results Under Scrutiny After Kanpur Student Alleges Major Score Fluctuation
Kanpur is abuzz with fresh allegations surrounding the NEET UG 2026 re-exam results. A local student, Arya Singh, has openly challenged the National Testing Agency's (NTA) scoring process, claiming a shocking drop in her marks shortly after the results were declared.
Singh's case highlights a concerning discrepancy: her OMR sheet, she says, indicated a score of 609. However, the final result, upon initial checking, displayed 540 marks, only to plummet to a mere 167 just a couple of hours later. The student has now escalated the matter, filing a complaint with both the NTA and the Ministry of Education, demanding a thorough investigation.
The OMR Sheet Discrepancy
Arya detailed that her OMR sheet, uploaded on the NTA website on the night of July 13, initially had incorrect question sequencing. Despite this, cross-referencing her answers suggested an estimated score of 609 marks.
She promptly raised an objection on the NTA's challenge portal regarding the OMR sheet's question order. Following her complaint, the NTA released a revised OMR sheet. While the question sequence was corrected, Arya claims the marks remained inaccurate.
A Dramatic Drop on Result Night
The real shock came on the night of July 16, when the NEET UG results were officially published. Arya first checked her score around midnight, seeing 540 marks. Yet, when she re-checked approximately two hours later, her score had dropped significantly to 167.
This drastic change in such a short span has led her to question the integrity of the result system. Currently, the NTA website reflects her score as 167, placing her All India Rank at 12,52,036 and Category Rank at 3,67,585.
Second Attempt, Second Allegation of Irregularity
This isn't Arya's first brush with alleged result issues. She states that during her first NEET attempt in 2025, she encountered a similar problem. Lacking sufficient documentation and evidence at the time, she couldn't formally register a complaint.
This year, however, she has meticulously gathered her OMR sheet, result printouts, and other relevant documents. These have been submitted along with her complaint to the NTA and the Education Minister. Arya has vowed to take her grievance to the offices of the President, Prime Minister, and Chief Minister if her complaint goes unaddressed.
Daughter of a Retired Army Veteran
Arya Singh is the daughter of Rakesh Singh, a retired army veteran who served the nation for 24 years with the Rajputana Rifles, retiring in 2025. Her father's service included a posting in Jammu and Kashmir's Nowgam area. Her mother, Priyam Singh, is a homemaker, and her younger brother, Ayush, is pursuing a BA degree. Arya completed her 12th-grade education from Sardar Patel Academy in Kanpur.
