Udaipur Village Witness to Major Snake Rescue Operation

Residents of Sisarma village in Udaipur experienced quite a scare recently when a total of 23 Russell's vipers were discovered in a local home. The group included a large adult female and her 22 newborn offspring, prompting a swift response from wildlife authorities.

The alarm was raised after a villager spotted a viper near his residence. Recognizing the potential danger, he quickly alerted the local Forest Department, initiating a coordinated rescue effort.

Wildlife Teams Mobilized for Delicate Operation

Teams from the Forest Department, alongside experts from the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS), converged on the scene. The delicate operation to safely extract all the snakes lasted for an intense three to four hours, requiring careful handling due to the species' highly venomous nature.

The adult Russell's viper measured an impressive five feet in length. Her 22 newborns, each about six to eight inches long, were also meticulously collected. Russell's vipers are known for their potent venom, and their bites can unfortunately be fatal if not treated promptly.

All Vipers Safely Relocated to Natural Habitat

Once secured, all 23 vipers were transported away from human habitation. They were subsequently released into a natural forest environment, far from the village, ensuring both their safety and that of the local community.
