High-Stakes Bribe Bust Shakes Jaipur Collectorate
Jaipur's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) launched a major trap operation on Wednesday, arresting Mukesh Chaudhary, personal assistant (PA) to RAS officer Narendra Kumar Verma, who works at the ADM East office. Chaudhary was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh. This swift action has sent shockwaves through the Jaipur Collectorate and other government departments.
The incident unfolded around 2 PM on Wednesday, right within the ADM East office located in the Jaipur Collectorate. The ACB had laid the trap following a complaint regarding pending bills.
The Logistics Scam Unravels
According to information obtained, the complainant had provided logistical support using 80 to 100 vehicles. These vehicles were crucial for transporting question papers and OMR sheets to examination centers and bringing them back to the ADM office during recent Forester and Second Grade recruitment exams.
The bills for this extensive logistic support amounted to approximately ₹16 to ₹17 lakh, which had been pending for clearance. It is alleged that Mukesh Chaudhary demanded a bribe to facilitate the approval of these substantial bills.
From Demand to Arrest: The ACB's Operation
Initially, Chaudhary reportedly demanded ₹1.50 lakh from the complainant to clear the bills. After some negotiation, the bribe amount was settled at ₹1 lakh. The complainant then approached the ACB, which verified the complaint before planning the trap.
Additional SP ACB Sunil Sihag revealed that the accused was demanding a commission of about 10 percent to pass the bills. Early investigations also suggest that Chaudhary allegedly claimed the bribe money was needed to purchase a laptop.
Broader Investigation Underway
The ACB is now intensely scrutinizing technical evidence and other documents. Investigators are working to determine whether Mukesh Chaudhary acted alone in this bribery case or if other officers or employees are also involved.
Currently, the ACB is interrogating the accused, and a detailed investigation into the matter is ongoing. Authorities anticipate further significant revelations in the coming days as the probe continues.
