RLP Chief Hanuman Beniwal Removes Security, Cites 'Conspiracy' Over Ill Police Deployment

Nagaur MP and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) supremo Hanuman Beniwal announced on Saturday that he has removed the police personnel assigned to his security detail. Beniwal claims that officials managing police affairs in Nagaur are consistently deploying officers suffering from serious illnesses for his protection.

He alleges this not only compromises his security but also represents a deliberate attempt to damage his public image. Beniwal has formally written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, urging their intervention in the matter.

Beniwal's Allegations: A Deeper Look

In his letter to the Chief Minister and Home Minister, Beniwal has leveled serious accusations against the Nagaur police administration. He stated this isn't just about his personal safety, but a grave issue concerning democratic values and the security of public representatives.

Beniwal claims that officials overseeing police operations and responsible personnel at the Reserve Police Line in Nagaur, a district currently without a Police Superintendent (SP), are intentionally assigning seriously ill police officers to his security. He suspects a larger conspiracy behind this, aiming to hold him responsible for any untoward incident or health deterioration of a police officer, thereby tarnishing his public image.

Specific Incidents Highlighted

Beniwal's letter details three recent and concerning incidents. On July 11, Constable Sunil Bishnoi, who was part of his security and suffered from a severe neurological condition, suddenly fell ill in Jaipur. Beniwal personally took him to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital late at night.

Just days later, on July 15, Constable Balbir Gurjar's health deteriorated while returning from Jaipur. He was referred from Nagaur to AIIMS Jodhpur, where doctors suspected he was suffering from a pre-existing heart condition. Beniwal also noted that a third constable, Sitaram, assigned to his security on Saturday, was also visibly unwell.

"I do not wish to put any sick police personnel's health at risk," Beniwal stated, explaining his decision to immediately send the assigned personnel back to the Reserve Police Line.

Questions Over Withdrawn Security

The MP has also raised sharp questions regarding a reduction in his security detail. His letter mentions that based on prior security-related intelligence inputs from the Rajasthan Police's Intelligence wing, he was previously provided with a police escort and armed commandos. However, this additional security was abruptly withdrawn without any prior notice or explanation.

Beniwal questioned the government: "If there were serious threat inputs concerning my security at that time, what is the current status of those inputs? Will the government provide me with official information on this, or is my security being deliberately neglected?"

Allegations of Political Influence and Demand for Probe

Beniwal asserts that he had informed the Director General of Police (DGP) and Additional Director General (ADG - Intelligence) of Rajasthan Police about the entire situation and the negligence in his security via phone. Despite this, no corrective measures were taken at the district level.

He claims that certain police officers stationed in Nagaur are operating under political influence rather than fulfilling their impartial administrative duties, thereby compromising his security. Beniwal has urged both the central and state governments to conduct an impartial investigation into the entire matter, take strict action against the responsible officers, and review his security arrangements afresh.
