Ajmer Transporter Falls Victim to ₹2 Lakh Online Freight Fraud

An Ajmer-based transport entrepreneur has reportedly lost a significant sum of money in a sophisticated online fraud. Narayan Jat, a transport businessman residing in Bawdi village within the Saran police station area, has filed a complaint after being duped of approximately ₹2 lakh under the guise of goods transportation services.

The incident has prompted the Cyber Police Station to launch a thorough investigation, following a complaint lodged by the victim on the national Cyber Helpline 1930.

How the Deception Unfolded

According to the details provided, Narayan Jat initially received a message in one of his WhatsApp groups concerning the transport of goods to Karnataka. Subsequently, an individual identifying himself as Manoj contacted Jat, claiming a requirement for two vehicles to ferry goods to the southern state.

Following their conversation, Jat proceeded to load the merchandise from Manakpur and dispatched both vehicles towards Karnataka, believing he had secured a legitimate business deal.

The Advance Payment Trap

The alleged scammer then requested an advance payment. Narayan Jat transferred ₹50,000 into Manoj's account. Shortly after, another demand for funds was made, to which Jat complied, depositing an additional ₹1,50,000. This brought the total amount transferred to a hefty ₹2 lakh.

The next day, the situation took a turn when a person named Lokesh contacted Narayan, informing him that no advance payment had been received. When Jat attempted to reach Manoj, he was assured that the payment would be made to Lokesh by noon.

However, after this assurance, repeated attempts to contact Manoj proved futile. His mobile phone was switched off, and he became completely unreachable, raising immediate suspicions for the transport businessman.

Police Investigation Underway

Realizing he had likely fallen victim to an online scam, Narayan Jat promptly reported the incident to Cyber Helpline 1930. The Cyber Police Station has since registered the complaint and commenced its investigation to trace the fraudsters and recover the lost funds.
