Major Scare at Ajmer's JLN Hospital Emergency

A significant accident was narrowly avoided at Ajmer's Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Hospital on Friday when a section of the false ceiling and plaster suddenly gave way in the emergency ward. The incident, which occurred above the casualty gate, caused a brief moment of panic.

Reports indicate that a female security guard, identified as Suman from Paharganj, sustained minor head injuries. She was reportedly guiding patients' relatives out of the emergency area when the structure collapsed directly onto her.

Security Guard Injured, Larger Tragedy Averted

Hospital staff quickly responded to the scene, attending to the injured guard and providing immediate first aid. Her condition is now reported as stable.

A major catastrophe was averted thanks to sheer luck; no patients or other visitors were passing through the area at the exact moment of the collapse. Had the timing been different, the outcome could have been far more severe.

Maintenance Concerns Surface Amidst Recent Repairs

Dr. Arvind Khare, the hospital superintendent, addressed the incident, stating that the affected section had recently undergone repair work by the Public Works Department (PWD). He highlighted that the hospital administration has repeatedly informed the department about the deteriorating condition of various parts of the hospital building.

Following this latest collapse, the PWD has once again been instructed to carry out necessary repairs. Sources reveal that the hospital administration has allocated over 4 crore rupees for building maintenance in the past year alone. Such recurring incidents, despite significant funding, raise serious questions about the effectiveness of the maintenance work and overall safety standards.
