Major Drug Bust in Ajmer: Over 1.8 Quintals of Doda Post Seized

In a significant operation, the District Special Team (DST) of Ajmer, working alongside the Nasirabad Sadar Police Station, successfully uncovered a large-scale Doda Post smuggling attempt. Authorities seized a substantial quantity of the illicit substance, weighing in at 1 quintal 86.03 kilograms, cleverly concealed beneath empty vegetable crates.

The confiscated Doda Post carries an estimated street value of around Rs 10 lakh. Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the bust and impounded the vehicle used for the smuggling.

Operation Leads to Arrests and Significant Seizure

The joint operation was carried out under the directives of Dr. Ravi IPS, Inspector General of Police, Ajmer Range, and the guidance of Ajmer District Superintendent of Police, Harshvardhan Agrawala IPS. Additional Superintendent of Police, Kekri, Rajesh Kumar Meel, and Circle Officer, Nasirabad, Laxman Ram, provided close supervision.

A special team, led by Police Inspector Radheshyam Chaudhary, SHO of Nasirabad Sadar Police Station, and Shankar Singh Rawat, In-charge of the District Special Team, was formed to target illegal narcotics. On August 20, 2026, DST In-charge Shankar Singh Rawat received credible intelligence about a pickup truck, bearing registration RJ 06 GD 2028, transporting a large quantity of Doda Post along National Highway 48, heading from Zhadwasa towards Nasirabad.

Acting swiftly on the information and under the instructions of the Ajmer Superintendent of Police, the District Special Team set up a checkpoint near Sagar Hotel on NH-48. The suspicious vehicle, RJ 06 GD 2028, was intercepted and brought to a halt.

Smugglers Identified, Investigation Underway

Upon questioning, the two occupants of the pickup truck were identified as Harilal Jat, 23, son of Mangilal Jat, and Ramswaroop Jat, 23, son of Bhanwarlal Jat. Both are residents of Baliya ka Kheda, under Badliyas Police Station in Bhilwara district. Initially, they claimed the vehicle was filled with empty vegetable crates.

However, a thorough search revealed a tarpaulin hidden beneath the crates. Removing it, officers discovered ten sacks of various colors, packed with the illegal Doda Post. The total weight of the seized contraband was confirmed to be 186.03 kilograms.

Following the seizure, Nasirabad Sadar Police Station registered a case under FIR No. 318/2026, invoking Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation into the matter is currently ongoing to trace the origins and destination of the illicit consignment and identify any other individuals involved in the network.
