Actor Sohail Khan recently revealed that he had wanted to name his elder son "Ram Khan", but things took a different turn after his birth. Sharing the story on the reality show Alliance, Sohail said it was his former wife Seema Sajdeh who eventually chose the name "Nirvan". The conversation began after wildcard contestant Ali Goni praised Sohail and Seema for raising their children well. Responding to the compliment, Sohail recalled that before their first child was born, the couple had made a light-hearted agreement, if they had a son, he would choose the name, and if they had a daughter, Seema would decide. Sohail said he had always wanted to name his son "Ram Khan", calling it a reflection of his family's secular values. However, after the delivery, when Seema regained consciousness, the first name she suggested was "Nirvan". The actor said he instantly liked the name and never felt the need to change it. He added that Nirvan has grown up to be calm and balanced, qualities that he believes perfectly match the meaning of his name. Sohail and Seema share a warm bond on the show Despite being divorced, Sohail Khan and Seema Sajdeh have been seen sharing a friendly and comfortable equation on Alliance. When Seema entered the show, Sohail welcomed her warmly and reflected on their long journey together. He said they had spent 25 years together and added that if there were any shortcomings in their relationship, he would take responsibility for them. Seema also spoke fondly about Sohail during the show. When host Kunal Khemmu asked who her closest ally in the game was, she replied that Sohail was her only partner at the moment. Sohail later admitted that seeing someone from his family on the show made him genuinely happy and emotional. Sohail also opened up about his divorce In an earlier episode of Alliance, Sohail Khan spoke candidly about the end of his marriage with Seema Sajdeh. During a conversation with Nikhil Chinapa, he admitted that his career was going through a difficult phase at the time and that he was not in the right frame of mind. He said his behaviour eventually cost him the person he loved the most. Sohail added that while Seema is the mother of his two sons, he now respects her even more than he loves her. He also said the show gave them an opportunity to reconnect and have honest conversations after years. A love story that lasted over two decades Sohail and Seema first met at Chunky Pandey's engagement party, where Sohail says he fell in love with her at first sight. They soon began dating, but their relationship faced opposition from Seema's family because they belonged to different religions. Despite the resistance, the couple decided to be together. On March 15, 1998—the same day Sohail's directorial debut Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya was released—they eloped and got married. They first tied the knot at an Arya Samaj temple before also having a Nikah ceremony. The couple welcomed their first son, Nirvan, in 2000 and their second son, Yohan, in 2011. After more than two decades together, they separated in 2022. About the show Alliance is a reality game show hosted by Kunal Khemu, where friendships and alliances change with every episode.
