BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut has criticised what she described as the mindset of some women from the younger generation. In a post shared on her Instagram Stories, Ranaut referred to them as "gutter chhaap" and alleged that they equate freedom with drug use, alcohol consumption and having sexual relationships with multiple men. She further wrote, ‘Most appalling is the behaviour of young Hindu women, who want to imitate the lives of independent career women without earning that freedom. Women who are truly independent make rebellious choices, have bold opinions, make unconventional career moves, and take accountability for their actions. They have to bear the cost; they are on their own. They don't do this at the cost of their parents or families. Here is a new generation of so-called Westernised Indian women. I call them "Generation Gutter". Some of them have nothing to offer to the system. They are not good at studies, but they are so ugly and corrupt that they can't be homemakers either. Yet they proudly flaunt their freedom to have drugs, drinks, or endless body counts, shamelessly live off their parents' earnings, and constantly fight to live independent lives without actually being independent. Gentle reminder: An independent life needs to be earned. If you try to live independently without accountability, you are just a distorted entity. Gutter chhaap.’ Kangana further wrote, 'Today, a new generation of Indian women influenced by so-called Western thought has emerged. I call them the 'Gutter Generation'. Some of them have nothing to offer society. They are not good at studies, but they possess such ugly thoughts and corrupt mindsets that they cannot even become good housewives.' 'Despite this, they flaunt their so-called freedom, calling drugs, alcohol, and countless sexual relationships their freedom. They shamelessly live off their parents' earnings and constantly talk about living an independent life, while in reality, they are not self-reliant at all. Let me remind you, freedom has to be earned. If you try to be independent without taking responsibility, you are just a person with a distorted mindset, a ‘gutter chap’.'' The way these people speak and the language they are using, I have never seen before. Every frame is so strange and disturbing that it makes me sick to watch.
