Actress Bhumi Pednekar has condemned the abusive language used against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a student protest led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Sharing a video on Instagram, Bhumi said that using such language against the person holding the country's highest constitutional office is unacceptable and does not reflect Indian values. The controversy began after a video from the CJP-led protest over the alleged NEET paper leak went viral on social media, showing protesters raising offensive slogans against the Prime Minister. The video sparked strong reactions from several public figures, including Bhumi Pednekar, actor Mukesh Khanna, and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut. 'This is not our culture, the youth should show restraint' In her video message, Bhumi Pednekar said that while everyone has the right to question issues related to education and the system, the language used to express those concerns should remain respectful. She said, "The kind of language being used by the youth of our country in videos circulating on social media is deeply disturbing. We are talking about the person holding the highest office in the country. Do we speak to our elders at home in this manner?" Bhumi urged Gen Z to uphold India's culture of respect and civil dialogue, saying disagreements should be expressed with dignity rather than abusive language. Mukesh Khanna called the protestors 'cockroaches' Actor Mukesh Khanna also posted a video on Instagram on this issue, launching a sharp attack on the protesters. He called those supporting the protest 'cockroaches' and spoke of throwing them out of the country. Mukesh Khanna alleged that this protest is not by real students, but students are being used under an agenda to destabilise the government. Warning the students, he said that involvement in such activities could cause problems in getting jobs and visas in the future, so they should stay away from it in time. Controversy started with NEET paper leak The whole matter started after the incident of the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper leak. In protest against this, students and political organizations had started demonstrations. However, after the alleged use of objectionable language against security personnel and political figures during the protest, this matter has become a topic of discussion across the country. While on one hand students are demanding a fair investigation, on the other hand, Bollywood celebrities have raised questions about the methods of protest.
