Assam's Vidya Devi Visits Ajmer Dargah, Urges Respect for PM Amid Student Protests

Assam's prominent figure, Pandit Vidya Devi, recently paid a devotional visit to the revered shrine of Sufi Saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti, affectionately known as Khwaja Garib Nawaz, in Ajmer. Her visit saw her offering a sacred 'chadar' and an array of fresh flowers, presenting her deep reverence at the world-renowned dargah.

During her time at the shrine, she immersed herself in the spiritual ambiance, enjoying soulful Sufi Qawwalis. She also participated in the community service by distributing 'langar' (a communal meal) among the general public and fellow devotees present there.

Syed Ahmed Ali Niazi, a khadim of the dargah, facilitated Vidya Devi and her companions during their 'ziarat' (pilgrimage). Following the spiritual journey, Syed Asif Ali Chishti performed the traditional 'dastar bandi' (turban tying) ceremony for all members of her delegation, presenting them with sacred 'prasad'.

A Call for Respect Amidst Dissent

Speaking to the media after her visit, Pandit Vidya Devi addressed the recent student protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. She acknowledged the legitimacy of the student movement but emphasized that speaking ill of the Prime Minister was inappropriate.

"Students are the future of our country," she stated. "They must uphold the dignity and respect associated with a position as significant as that of the Prime Minister."

At the dargah, Pandit Vidya Devi offered prayers for peace, tranquility, and prosperity across the nation. She shared her personal tradition, noting that she always seeks blessings at Khwaja Sahib's dargah before embarking on any new endeavor.

She further explained her commitment to providing spiritual support to those who are troubled and distressed. Dargah khadim Syed Ahmed Ali Niazi confirmed her long-standing association with the Ajmer shrine, highlighting her regular visits to seek Khwaja Sahib's grace for her loved ones.
