Ajmer police have arrested a man for allegedly siphoning off ₹50,700 from his maternal uncle's bank account through unauthorized online transfers. The accused, identified as Sagar Mali, reportedly exploited a trusted family relationship to commit the financial fraud.

The arrest was made by Ganj Police Station officials after a thorough investigation involving bank records and location tracking of the suspect.

How the Fraud Unfolded

Assistant Sub-Inspector Ranveer Singh of Ganj Police Station reported that the victim, Omprakash Mittal, initiated the case through a court directive. According to Mittal's complaint, his relative, Sagar Mali, visited his home between May 26 and 27.

During this visit, Mali allegedly observed Mittal's mobile phone password without his knowledge. Subsequently, he used this password to transfer a total of ₹50,700 in various installments from Mittal's bank account to an online scanner linked to one Raj Keshwani.

Investigation Leads to Arrest

Upon discovering the unauthorized transactions, Omprakash Mittal promptly sought police assistance. The Ganj Police registered a case and launched an investigation, meticulously examining bank transaction details, online transfer records, and the accused's location data.

Based on the findings, Sagar Mali, also known as Pushpakar, son of Subhash Mali, a resident of Chak Raghunath, Naini Bazaar, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended in Ajmer.

Accused's Background and Prior Record

Police sources indicate that Mali is an orphan who reportedly lives alternately with his sister or maternal aunts and uncles. He was attending a child's birthday celebration at Omprakash Mittal's residence when he seized the opportunity to learn the mobile password and execute the fraud.

Authorities have successfully contacted the bank to put a hold on some of the transferred funds. Mali is expected to be presented before the court for further legal proceedings.
