Ajmer Man Assaulted, Robbed in 'Double Your Money' Scam Gone Wrong

Ajmer witnessed a shocking incident recently where a social media lure of doubling money turned violent, leading to an assault and the theft of a substantial amount of cash. The incident unfolded in the Alwar Gate police station area, leaving a victim beaten and robbed.

The victim, Gaurav Jain, had reportedly gone to the Nareli area on Saturday with ₹1 lakh in company cash, acting on the advice of his friend, Imran. Ironically, Imran himself had been a previous victim of the same fraud gang. The duo's intention was to catch the fraudsters red-handed by feigning interest in their scheme, but their plan backfired dramatically.

The Trapped Plan: From Sting to Street Crime

Upon reaching the designated spot, the situation escalated quickly. According to Jain, the accused immediately began pushing and shoving. Imran was reportedly taken on a bike and assaulted, while Gaurav was forced into a car, where he was brutally beaten. The assailants also vandalized his vehicle and, in a harrowing move, threw chilli powder into his eyes before fleeing with the ₹1 lakh.

Brave Citizen's Intervention Leads to Arrest

The dramatic escape of the culprits was cut short thanks to the courage of a local resident. Surendra Singh Rawat, from Badliya, witnessed the incident and bravely gave chase. His pursuit led him to the Nehru Nagar area, where he managed to apprehend one of the accused. Roughly ₹70,000 to ₹72,000 was recovered from the individual.

Police Investigation Underway

The Alwar Gate police have taken the arrested accused into custody and initiated an investigation into the matter. Narendra Singh Jakhar, the Alwar Gate Station House Officer, clarified that while a case of assault has been registered based on the victim's complaint, the police are still working to confirm whether the incident officially qualifies as 'loot' (robbery) or 'thagi' (fraud). The full sequence of events is currently under thorough examination.
